Presidential Candidates at 2007 NUL Conference

Last week, I attended the annual Conference of the National Urban League.  One of the plenary sessions I participated in, was a panel discussion of the four leading democratic candidates, for the president of the United States.  The four candidates were Dennis Kucinich, John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama.  While all of the candidates had similar ideas around Health Care, Education, and Civil Rights, it appears Clinton and Obama are the front runners.  My question is America, are you ready for a female or African American President?

I believe that America is ready for change. Change meaning that all our previous presidents have only looked out for the typical white male issues in America. The current issues that are facing America require a president that has experienced the hardships from a minority perspective. Whether it be a female at the helm or an African America, America needs a leader that will do what is necessary to ensure that all individuals, especially minorities, receive equal opportunities in our society.
